The History of My Necklace

I don't know if anyone reading my blog has ever noticed that I wear the same necklace all day everyday. This necklace was given to me by Eric for Christmas 1998. We had been dating for almost 2 months at that point. It was a huge surprise to me. We had exchanged our gifts with each other and I thought we were all done! He had gotten me LOTS of things and I was very thankful for all the stuff! Then it was time for him to leave and we said our goodbyes and he left. I went upstairs to my room and there on my pillow was another gift. My mom, sister and friend Heather (she lived us for about 6 months at that time) came into the room because apparently he had told them about it. I opened it up and was instantly in love (with the necklace and Eric!) This was before cellphones, so I tried to call him and of course he was not home yet! I decided that I wanted to thank him in person and so I jumped in my car and drove to his apartment!

Ever since that day I have been wearing it except about 4 months after that Christmas. I was in high school at this time. I was in English 12 class and I remember it like it was yesterday....I started taking off my jewelry because i had gym after this class. I reached up and noticed it was not on my neck. I started panicing. I looked on the floor...no necklace. I searched everything I had until my teacher stopped reading A Midsummer's Night Dream and asked me if I was ok. I told her what happened and she let me go look for the necklace in the class I had before...no necklace. I searched the whole school and never found the necklace. After school I drove to Boces and searched my class there...no necklace. I was devastated and so I called Eric at work and told him the bad news. The next day at Boces, I was called down to the office and they handed me the necklace. They had found it outside by the buses and the chain had broken. I got a new heavier chain that night and this necklace has been on everyday since! I did not however have it on for our wedding! It was sewen into my bouquet. It has been with us when our children were born and is a very important part of who I am and I love it very much!
